I am a writer, editor, and talker.
I conceived the bestselling What I Love about You series of fill-in-the-blank books, which has helped millions of people express their love for partners, spouses, friends, and family. The series is published by Knock Knock, where I serve as editor and writer.
I also coauthored This Is (Not) L.A.: An Insider’s Take on the Real Los Angeles, with a foreword by Jonathan Gold.
I am an award-winning music and pop culture journalist, and was the first (and only) female music editor & columnist at L.A. Weekly. My writing has appeared in Spin, Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Magazine, Teen People, Seventeen, City Pages, the Da Capo Best Music Writing series, and the New York Times Magazine.
I’m also an independent radio & podcast producer with extensive experience behind the mic (and in front of it). My first radio gig was as host, writer, and coproducer of Pop Vultures, an acclaimed and groundbreaking public radio show developed by American Public Media.
I have appeared on numerous radio shows including All Things Considered, All Songs Considered, KCRW’s Sounds L.A., KPCC’s Offramp, and Jonesy’s Jukebox. I am currently developing my own music-related podcast.
I have guest lectured at the University of Minnesota’s journalism school and Whittier College’s English department.
